Mentoring at Two+Two
Two+Two is an event hosted by Creative Resource which takes place in Manchester every year. The event offers students of creative disciplines the opportunity to tackle a live brief, as they would in the world of work.
Recently, we had the pleasure of attending Two+Two - a day-long event hosted by Creative Resource which takes place in Manchester every year. The event offers students of marketing and creative disciplines the opportunity to tackle a live brief, work with consumer insights and take part in the pitching process, as they would in the world of work. By working in teams, the students collaborate on a creative solution to the brief, which they then present to a panel of judges - with the winning team getting to spend a day with Steven Barlett.
This year, students were asked to develop a ‘big idea’ for Wejo - a global brand focused on using ‘data for good’ - to encourage Gen Z to become advocates for sharing data from intelligent vehicles. The challenge, in short, was to create a campaign focused on the ‘ the drive to make the world a better place’ and highlighted the benefits that sharing this data can have, such as sharing locations of road accidents or identifying safe drivers to insurance providers.
As part of the event, each team receives expert mentorship from an individual working within the industry. For the second year in a row, our Account Manager, Aisling, was invited to take part in the event as a mentor for the Green team.
“Two+Two is always a pleasure to be a part of. Each year, I have been blown away by the talent of the students and it’s a great opportunity to be able to offer some help and advice. It is an incredibly rewarding event and I’m already looking forward to next year!”
With only 6 hours to develop, execute and pitch their ‘big ideas’, the students were able to experience the pace of the industry. Despite fierce competition, the ‘Green Roosters’ were awarded first place with their ‘passive good’ campaign. Bowled over by the campaign, the ‘Green Roosters’ were not only given the opportunity to work with Steven Bartlett for a day, but will also be working with Wejo to develop their campaign ready to launch on one of Manchester’s most notable billboards, near Victoria Warehouse.
All in all, Two+Two was a brilliant day for all involved and plenty of helpful advice was given. Massive thanks to Creative Resource for organising Two+Two and Wejo for providing such a challenging but insightful brief.
