Designing the interior for the new Mersey Ferry
We’re thrilled to reveal that we have created the interior concept for the new Mersey Ferry which is due to launch in 2026.
This project, developed in close collaboration with Mersey Ferries, Cammell Laird and MPE interiors, has allowed us to explore the exciting challenge of creating a modern passenger experience without sacrificing the charm of the Mersey Ferries brand.
Bringing together heritage and innovation
Our design for the interior of the new Mersey Ferry is a tribute to the rich history of river transport in the region, combined with high-quality finish and a contemporary flair. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed to celebrate the ferry’s heritage while providing a modern, comfortable experience that passengers can enjoy for years to come.
Creating an inviting space for all passengers
One of the main aspects of the brief was to ensure that the new ferry caters for all types of customers. Seating and circulation areas are open and approachable. Every aspect, from the furniture to the lighting, has been selected to make these spaces feel welcoming, and consistent with the ferry’s overall character.
For refreshment areas, we’ve focused on creating spaces that are both engaging and practical. These areas offer passengers modern and inviting environments to enjoy food and drink and the design reflects the quality and style seen throughout the rest of the ship. Careful attention has been given to comfort, accessibility, and aesthetics.
Flexibility at the heart of the design
One of the defining features of the interior concept is adaptability. The new Mersey Ferry is designed to accommodate a variety of use cases, serving as so much more than just a transport link across the river. The flexible layout means it can easily transform into an event space, hosting everything from wedding receptions and family gatherings to corporate functions. In this way it will be a unique attraction for visitors eager to experience a cruise on the Mersey from a fresh perspective.
Whether passengers are commuting, exploring, or celebrating, we hope that the design will ensure that the new ferry provides an inviting, comfortable, and memorable environment for everyone who steps aboard, becoming part of daily life on the Mersey.
