Factory Outlets

We have been involved in producing a variety of factory outlet concepts for a number of brands including ASICS, Haglöfs, Onitsuka Tiger and Radley London.

Factory outlets make up a huge sector of a brands retail estate. There was a time when factory outlets were run of the mill, 'cheap as chips' stores used simply for shifting large volumes of out of date stock. Now factory outlets are a huge part of a retailers arsenal and yet another touch point between retailers and their customers. Therefore brands are spending more money to create exciting new retail concepts to wow their customers.


asics, Madrid

We recognised that even non-premium retail channels need to consistently convey core brand values and have competitive standout. 

We were commissioned to design the first ASICS Factory Outlet in Madrid several years ago. 

Core requirements were for easy personal shopping, high stock display, stock holding capacity and strong POS to inform the customer. Commercial objectives were also clear – fixtures and fit-out needed to be durable and to appear premium, whilst being cost effective and straightforward enough to roll-out on a global scale.

The success of this concept has been that it is now sanctioned as a standard scheme globally for ASICS.


ASICS, SHANGHAI

We created something for ASICS that pushed the boundaries and brought something fresh to the idea of an outlet store.

Last year, we collaborated with ASICS China to design an outlet store in the new Shanghai Village complex. Although based on our previous store concept, we also added several key design features to this store, following the request from Value Retail to make this store 'extra special and more premium looking.’

ONITSUKA TIGER, Madrid

We used reclaimed timber packing crates to manufacture fixtures, placed in the space, rather than a traditional store fit out.

This brief demanded strong product presentation within an overall scheme which made sustainability a high priority. 

This included the allowance of furniture to be removed and re-used in the future, rather than ripped out and disposed of if concepts change. In keeping with the handcrafted brand essence, a tiger logo was ‘branded’ into the timber back wall using a steel stencil and blow torch.
